Believing that we are the stories we tell, artist and arts educator Shawn Bowman creates tangible objects from imaginary narrative settings, specializing in subversive craft writing, humorous modern artifacts, workshop instruction and game design. Passionate about enabling creative communities, Bowman empowers students both young and old with hands on craft projects, literacy through comic writing and creating table top games working with organizations like Denver Comicon’s Pop Culture Classroom, Denver Public Libraries, Jeffco Libraries and is on the Board of Directors for Making Progress Colorado the producers of the Denver Maker Faire.

Her cheeky, text themed art has shown in numerous shows in Colorado and Oregon as well as her own 13’ Shasta trailer pop-up space “Gallery-a-Go-Go”. Want to throw a Pie Fight Party for your friends, she’s got notes. Need 60 hand illustrated faux journals to launch your Slenderman game release, she’s done that too. From tres chic “See Behind Sunglasses” for noir vixens to “Shrink-o-matic Sandwich Space Cannons” she’s designed a plethora of absurd objects for clients and friends.

Her BFA in Film Production from the University of Colorado led to a series of cinematic adventures as a location manager for feature films in NYC and ten year stint curating children’s content for independent film festivals for her distribution company IndieKid Films. Along with her art projects these days, she’s often found noodling around at Ax and Allies Automotive a vintage European sports car shop where she is a not-so-silent partner.
