A fun craft for friends and frenemies alike.  We’ll be making pincushions from my book, to wear on your wrist or stash in the sewing room, nothing like a little organized crime crafting!  All materials will be provided and the workshop is free, though you may want to be there right on time or a little early since the sessions fill up quick and I now get craft stalkers who are awesome enough to join in on many events.  For more info check out the library listing here…

Dia de Los Muertos: Small Altar and Shrine Building

In this hands-on workshop sponsored by SCRAP, we’ll create small altar pieces and shrines, called ofrendas, for Dia de Los Muetos and celebrate loved ones who have passed away. Students are welcome to bring copies of photographs or other personal mementos to add to final piece.

A $5 materials fee is included in the $25 ticket price for students to use for selecting supplies in the SCRAP store, other materials will be provided including notions,paints, glitters and small treasures.

We’ll have a brief discussion on the history of the holiday, and suggestions for display ideas.  Class registration is through Skillshare at the link here Class size is limited to 10 students of any age and ability, no craft experience needed.

This will be the third in a series of individual workshops celebrating the holiday, the two others happening on Sept. 30th,  Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skull Making  and on October 7th, “Dia de los Muertos Costume and Mask Making” . Vaya con dios, my darlings!

Dia de los Muertos: Costume and Mask Making

A hands on workshop sponsored by SCRAP making calevera (skeleton) costumes and masks for Dia de Los Muertos and other Halloween celebrations.  We’ll be exploring different ways to adorn a costume, including thrift store upgrades, making hair wreaths, masks and the basics of skull make-up.

A $5 materials fee is included in the $25 ticket price for students to use for selecting supplies in the SCRAP store, other materials will be provided including notions, paints, glitters and small treasures.  Students are encouraged to bring in clothes they’d like to up-cycle as well.
