Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skull Making

A two hour workshop sponsored by SCRAP where you’ll learn how to make traditional Dia de los Muertos calaveras (a.k.a. sugar skulls) from scratch.  We’ll be decorating skulls for you to take home with glitter, sequins and other bling.  A $5 materials fee, which is included in the $25 workshop cost, goes toward shopping for extra supplies in the SCRAP shop.

Along with recipe hand-outs  we’ll have a brief discussion on the history of the holiday, and suggestions for display ideas.  Class registration is through Skillshare at the link here Class size is limited to 10 students of any age and ability, no craft experience needed.

Two other workshops to help you celebrate the holiday will be coming up the following two Sundays, “Dia de los Muertos Costume and Mask Making” and “Dia de los Muertos Shrine and Altar Building” . Vaya con dios, my darlings!

Portland Mini Maker Faire

Trebuchet, they had me at GIANT trebuchet- but there will be a whole lot more with artist booths, science demonstrations, lego robots, 3-d printers and seriously cool geekery.  I’m so delighted to have a booth at this premiere event.  Come up with a rad disguise for the photo booth or make a tiny funeral, buy my book or invest in a cool craft kit like Mexican Wrestling Mask or Barefoot Bandit Sock Buddy.  It’s going to be huge fun for the whole family, mine included!
